Barkhera is a town as well as a nagar panchayat situated in the Pilibhit district in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The district headquarters of the Pilibhit district are in the town of Pilibhit. The district is included under the Bareilly Division. Pilibhit district is the political constituency of Maneka Gandhi.
The exact geographical location of Barkhera is at 28.45° North 79.8° East. It has a mean elevation of 165 metres (541 feet). As per the 2001 India census, Barkhera has a population of 9881. Males make up 54% of the population and females amount to 46%. The town of Barkhera has a mean literacy rate of 41%, lower than the nationwide standard of 59.5%. 70% of the males and 30% of the females are literate. 20% of the population consists of children below six years of age.
