Lord Mallinath was the nineteenth Jain Tirthankara of the current age, Avasarpini. As per Jain philosophy, Mallinath became a siddha - an enlightened soul which has demolished all of its karma.
According to the members of the Shwetambar denomination, she was female. During the current age she is the only female to become a Tirthankara. However, the members of the Digambara Sect or denomination believe that Mallinath was male. Lord Mallinath was born to Emperor Kumbha Raja and Queen Prabhavati Rani at Mithila in the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth date is on the 5th day of the Shravan Sukla month of the Hindu calendar.
Malli Kumari became an ascetic along with three hundred males and equal number of females. Immediately after her Diksha or vow she acquired Vipulmati Manahparyav Gyan meaning the ultimate Pra normal capacity. She then began profound meditation and the same afternoon she achieved nirvana. Immediately after attaining nirvana she gave her first discourse on the subject of doctrine of equanimity. Six kings took Diksha during this first discourse. After enhancing the spread of religious faith for a long period she achieved Nirvana on the fourth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra at Sammetshikhar.
