Dinesh Trivedi was the Minister of Railways who belongs to the All India Trinamool Congress party. He is the current Member of Parliament representing Barrackpore, West Bengal.

Dinesh Trivedi, Indian PoliticianDinesh Trivedi belongs from All India Trinamool Congress and is a Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha representing the Barrackpur (Lok Sabha constituency), West Bengal. He is the former Union Minister for Railways and the former Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. He is also serving as the Chairman of the Indo-European Union Parliamentary Forum (IEUPF), and other Parliamentary Forums.

Dinesh Trivedi was born on 4th June 1950. He did his B.Com from St.Xavier`s College, Kolkata. A graduate in commerce from St. Xavier`s College, Kolkata and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas, USA. Dinesh Trivedi is the youngest child in the Gujarati family. His father`s name was Hiralal Trivedi and his mother`s name was Urmila Trivedi. The family migrated to India from Karachi during the Partition of India in the year 1947, where all his other siblings were born. His parents lived in a number of places before coming to New Delhi, where he was born. His father then started working for the Hindustan Construction Company in Kolkata.

Dinesh Trivedi is also the General Secretary of All India Trinamool Congress. He is also the Chairman of the Indo-European Union Parliamentary Forum (IEUPF), established on 2 April 2005. He was the Minister for Railways and he joined in the cabinet as the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in the year 2009.
