Origin of Rudra Sampradaya is traced to the Hindu deity Shiva, known as Rudra, who passed on the knowledge imparted to him by Lord Vishnu to mankind. Vaishnavism considers Lord Shiva
as the first and foremost Vaishnava or follower of Lord Vishnu. The date of formation of Rudra sampradaya is controversial.
Rudra sampradaya are divided into two main types: Vishnuswamis, followers of Vishnuswami and the Vallabhas founded by Vallabha. This sect follows the philosophy of Shuddhadvaita
or pure monism to Krishna. The youthful Krishna is worshipped alone or with his consort Radha. The infant Krishna is worshipped by the sampradaya. Unlike other sampradayas the clergy in Pustimarg can marry and live a worldly life with their family.
