Zakhring tribe resides in the hilly area near international borders in the Walong and Kibitho circles in Lohit District. Their language is a mixture of Tibetan and Miju Mishmi. Patrilocal and patrilineal are their social systems. Joint family is common among these tribes. Their marriage system is Monogamy though polygamy is not prohibited. Their religion has a blend of Buddhism Hinayana sect as well as and traditional beliefs.
Their main occupation is agriculture. They practice terrace cultivation. They share good relations with the Monpas. They make wooden images of Buddha which show their belief in Tibetan Buddhism. However Zakhring Buddhism has shades of animism and Shamanism. Their community deity is called Yong.
