![]() Sugriva was in exile in Rishyamuka since he was forced to leave Kishkindha and his wife by his cruel elder brother Bali . Sugriva thus lived the bitter life of an exile in the mountain and was always afraid of his brother's secret agents who would convey the message to his brother about his hereabouts. Therefore, when Sugriva first say Rama and Lakshmana with their arms, fled away to a secret place and send Hanuman in the guise of a hermit in order to understand the purpose of visit of the two newcomers to their place of hiding. Hanuman, thus met Rama and Lakshmana and after hearing everything from Lakshmana thought that the two brothers could also help Sugriva to regain his kingdom from his brother Bali and took Rama and Lakshmana to the place where Sugriva was hiding. Rama and Lakshmana were led by Hanuman to the place where Sugriva was hiding in the Rishyamuka Mountain. Hanuman then introduced the two brothers, Rama and Lakshmana to the monkey chief Sugriva and both Rama and Sugriva met each other and held conversation with regard to each others problems. Both Rama and Sugriva, after discussing with each other decided to form an alliance. Rama vowed to help Sugriva to regain his kingdom Kishkindha and his wife and Sugriva also promised to assist Rama by providing his huge army of monkeys to search for Sita. |
