The Padma Bhushan Award is being presented by the Government of India, since 1954. The award is ranked third amongst all the civilian awards in India, just behind the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan. The Government of India presents the award to the extremely talented and successful people of different fields in India and also in abroad. The main objective behind presenting the award is to recognise the great talents of the people and also to appreciate their extraordinary achievements. A total of 14 people won the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 1986.
