The third highest civilian award presented in India, Padma Bhushan Award was incepted in the year 1954, by the Government of India. The Government presents the award to recognise the great talents in different fields and also to appreciate their great achievements in their respective fields. The award is given to the people from India and also abroad. The award is given in almost every field including Science & Engineering, Literature & Education, Medicine, Sports, Civil Service, Arts, Trade & Industry, Social Work, Public Affairs, etc. The total number of Padma Bhushan Awardees in the year 1984 was 17 and all of them are considered to be the great talents in their respective fields.
