The Government of India has been presenting the Padma Bhushan Award on a regular basis, since the year 1954, with a view to recognise extraordinary talents in various fields. The award is ranked third amongst all the civilian awards presented in India and brings a lot of honour to the recipients. The Government of India actually recognises and appreciates the extraordinary talents of Indians and foreigners in various fields, through this award. A total 17 people won the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 1983.
