The Padma Bhushan Award is ranked second among the prestigious Padma Awards and is also ranked as the third highest amongst all the civilian awards presented in India. Only the awards like Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan is ranked higher than the Padma Bhushan Award in India. The award is presented by the Government of India to the extremely talented and successful people from different fields. The people from India and abroad can get the award and the Government of India actually recognises and appreciates their achievements through this award. A total of 16 people won the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 1977.
