The Padma Bhushan Award was incepted in the year 1954 and is considered as one of the most prestigious and honourable civilian awards in India. The award is presented by the Government of India to the highly talented people from different fields like Science & Engineering, Literature & Education, Medicine, Sports, Civil Service, Arts, Trade & Industry, Social Work, Public Affairs, etc. The award is presented to recognise their talents and also to appreciate their achievements. A total of 41 people received the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 1971.
