Being considered as the third highest civilian award presented in India, the Padma Bhushan Award is being presented to the recipients, on a regular basis since the year 1954. The award is presented by the Government of India to those people, who have done extremely well in their respective fields. The award is given to the people from almost every field like Science & Engineering, Literature & Education, Medicine, Sports, Civil Service, Arts, Trade & Industry, Social Work, Public Affairs, etc. A total of 14 people won the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 1959.
