Sandhya Roy is one of the most prominent Indian actresses in the Bengali language film industry of India.
Sandhya Roy has acted in both Bengali and Hindi language films and she was considered as one of the most charming actresses of her time.
She was born in Nabadip located in West Bengal. After some day, she went to Bangladesh with her family. The grandfather of Sandhya Roy was landlord "Jamindar" in Bangladesh. Sandhya Roy lost her father and mother at the age of 7 and 9 respectively. She has a brother. After losing her parents she went to her maternal uncle's house and took admission in school. In 1957, she again came back to India.
Her first film was "Mamlar fol" starring Sabitri Chatterjee where she played role as crowd. She made her debut as an actress with the film Nagini Kanyar Kahini in the year 1958. This film was directed by Salil Sen. In that film she played the role of Snake Daughter. After that she acted in the film Ganga that was released in the year 1960. This film dealt with the lifestyle of fishermen, living along Ganga River. Sandhya Roy played the character of a teenage girl named Gamli Panchi. Next she played the character of Sudha in the 1960 film Maya Mriga. Sandhya Roy was a talented actress with strong acting skills.
