In the Hindu Mythology it is stated that Sweta-Dwipa means the white or silver island. Sweta-Dwipa is considered to be the residence of Lord Vishnu. Vishnu brought the whole white or Silver Island, or island of the moon, into Gujarat for Krishna, to make it a place of residence for him. Vishnu placed the Sweta-dwipa there for the benefit of his faithful servants, so that they might have real and genuine chalk to mark their foreheads with.
