This is a region of considerable extent and power at various periods. The name remains in Beder, which may have been the ancient capital. However, the kingdom seems to have corresponded with the great part of Berar and Kandesh. Kundinapur is mentioned in the epic Ramayana amongst the countries of the south.
In the ancient days, Kundinapur used to be the gateway for the ancient travellers from north India to southern India. It was well connected to northern cities of ancient India like Ayodhya and kingdoms like Avanti and Nishadha.
