The Vishnu Purana
affirms that Khasrima is one of the sons of Viprachitti and Sinhika. Sinhika is the sister of Hiranyakasipu, King of the demons.
Khasrima along with his other brothers were strong, powerful and courageous. The name of his other brothers is Vyansa, Salya, Nabha, Vatapi, Namuchi, Ilwala, Anjaka, Naraka, Kalanabha, Swarbhanu, and the mighty Vaktrayodhi. All the brothers were the most eminent Danavas or Demons. Through the Davanas sprang the race of Danu who was multiplied by hundreds and thousands through succeeding generations.
