Dulal Roy is an Assamese director. He was born in Guwahati in 1943. He studied at the National School of Drama and the Film and Television Institute, Pune. Dulal Roy presently serves as Joint Director in Assam's Directorate of Cultural Affairs. His onstage directorial activity is known for its experimentation, particularly with productions of modern European drama that influenced further experiments in Assamese theatre. His original plays have been translated into other languages. Of late, he has worked for cinema, including scripting and directing films.
