As mentioned in the Vishnu Purana, Prachinaverhis was the eldest of the six sons of Havirdhana. He was a great prince and patriarch by whom mankind was multiplied after the death of Havirdhana. Prachinaverhis was called by this name from his placing upon the earth the holy grass, pointing to the east.
Prachinaverhis married Savarna, the daughter of the ocean, who was the mother of ten sons, styled Prachetasas. Prachetasas were in the sea for ten thousand years.
