Bashir Ahmad Qadri is a Kashmiri actor and also famous as a director. Born in 1953, he started working in theatre in 1971 and founded the Kashmir Cultural Society, which played a significant role in the modernization of Kashmiri theatre. He used his educational experience in television production, mass communication, and journalism to write scripts, produce, and direct stage plays and 'television drama'. All these won him remarkable popularity. He skillfully draws upon folk theatre for colourful and comic effects. Some of his successful plays are Vaqtuk alav i.e. 'Call of the Hour', Kus lagyi davas or 'Who Is to Face Trial', Anyigot or 'Darkness', Yityi chhu sapdan i.e. 'This Too Happens', Az tiatipagah i.e. 'Today or Tomorrow', Katryiv amarath i.e. 'Terracotta Home', and Dayi sund insaf i.e. 'God's Justice'.
