Nyasa is a form of gesture made with a short and mystic prayer to the heart, the head, the crown of the head, and the eye.
Nyasa are as 'Om sirase namali' and 'Om'. This is a salutation to the head with the addition of the kavacha, the armour or syllable phat, and the astra, the weapon or syllable hum. The entire mantra, the prayer or chant, is then "Om sirase namali, hum, phat."
