People of North Bengal are known as Matsyas. Matsyas are specially the inhabitants of Dinajpur, Rangpur, and Cooch Behar.
As mentioned by Yantra Samrat, Matsyas are the people who belonged particularly to Jaipur.
Again in the Dig Vijaya (missionary tour) of Nakula, the Matsyas are placed farther to the west or in Gujarat.
