Chronology is a chronicle or arrangement of events according to their occurrence order. The term Chronology is derived from Greek. General chronology is the science of locating and resolution of temporal sequence of past events in time.
Chronology is part of periodisation. A chronology may be either relative that is, locating related events relative to each other or it may be absolute i, e, locating these events to specific dates in a chronological era. Chronology is the science of locating historical events in time. Dendrochronology estimates the age of trees by correlation of the various growth rings in their wood.
As per the Vishnu Purana, time is a form of Vishnu and here chronology is applied to measure the duration of Brahma and of all other sentient beings.
