Mitradev Mahanta Adhikar was a famous Assamese actor. The theatre personality was born at Leturgram Satra in Jorhat district. He began his stage career in 1916, while serving in the education department. Mitradev Mahanta Adhikar equally adapted in a variety of roles in mythological, historical, and social drama, he excelled in farce. He also directed, sang, wrote plays, and composed lyrics. For his contribution to Assamese theatre, the Sangeet Natak Akademi bestowed on him one of its earliest awards, in 1961. He was born in the year of 1894 whereas he died in 1982.
