The yogic sutra tatah pratyakcetana adhigamah api antaraya abhavah ca evokes a kind of self-realisation within the self. Intense meditation and reiteration of the pranava mantra leads one to achieve mastery of the inner being. However, one needs to accomplish all these with honest feel, thoughtfulness and pondering over the actual meaning of the word aum.

Meditation on God with the repetition of aum removes obstacles to the mastery of the inner self.
The repetition of the pranava mantra with feeling and understanding of its meaning leads to the discovery of the Self, and helps remove hindrances to Self-Realisation.
When experience, the instruments of experience and the object experienced are interwoven, the soul manifests itself without the interference of any hindrances.
Constant, venerating repetition of the pranava aum, with reflection on its meaning and the feeling it evokes, helps the seer to reach the highest state in yoga.
