There has been an extensive study of their yearlong work by the special juries and the deserving people are felicitated with the black lady. All the stars along with their partners step into the venue with great expectation. With every announcement tension brewed on the face of the contestants. Every heart wishes to walk to the platform and hold the award of success but only the few lucky ones can taste its flavor as well. 25th February 2008 was the desired day for the artists. This was a similar kind of day when numerous numbers of stars of the sky landed on earth to enjoy the event. The stars came as couples as Bipasha Basu with John Abraham, Preity Zinta with Ness Wadia, Saif Ali Khan with Kareena Kapoor and last but not the least Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone walked the venue hand in hand. The programme was held at the Yashraj Studio in Mumbai. The show was hosted by the present superstars, the most favorite jodi of Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. They cut ridiculous jokes and the audience enjoyed the programme to the fullest. They even introduced one new award in the name or 'Na-Real' award. This means that the award will be given to those who has done malfunction in the film. Laughter echoed from every corner of the Yashraj studio for these two Khans. The whole set was full of stars except Aamir Khan and the high-flying Bachchans family. No films of Bachchan's are nominated and moreover they are not in a good mood as Amitabh Bachchan's mother has passed away. Aamir Khan, the maker of much talked about film, 'Taare Zameen Par' was absent from the award ceremony. Despite of his absence, he remained very much prominent in the ceremony for his latest film. Aamir has not only proved himself as a best actor but he has also topped his name in film direction by bagging the best director award for his critically acclaimed film 'Taare Zameen Par'. Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Konkana Sen Sharma, Shreya Ghosal, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Rekha, Neil Nitin Mukesh are the stars that dazzle during that memorable evening. Most of the audience's interest was on the little boy Darsheel who acted brilliantly in 'Taare Zameen Par'. The glory of the 53rd Filmfare award went on with full swing. The night saw the face of many prominent personalities from the film fraternities with high designer costumes and jewellery as well. It started and ended quite fabulously and all through the function Shahrukh and Saif hosted it along with Vidya Balan and Karan Johar in some prominent parts. The selections of the awards were quite justified. The winner left with a smile on their face and a satisfaction in their heart while the loser left with hopes to perform better next time. This 53rd Filmfare award was not for a single person. Many actors have got awards in different categories but of course the best award that means the best actor award went to King Khan of Bollywood i.e. Shahrukh Khan for his film 'Chak De! India', and he has again proved that he is the best. The other nominations in this category were Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Darsheel Safary, Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor for the film Guru, Namastey London, Taare Zameen Par, Chak De! India, Om Shanti Om, and 'Jab We Met' respectively. Shahrukh Khan got nomination for both of his 'Chak De! India' and 'Om Shanti Om'. The award for best actor in a leading role (female) went to Kareena Kapoor for the film 'Jab We Met'. The other nominees were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherjee, and Vidya Balan for the films Guru, Om Shanti Om, Aaja Nachle, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, respectively. Aamir Khan was blessed with the award for best director for his unique film 'Taare Zameen Par' which was his debut venture. The same film also got the award for best film in the 53rd filmfare award. Best actor in a supporting role (Male) went to Irrfan Khan for the film 'Life In a…Metro' while the other nominees were Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Shreyas Talpade. Konkona Sen Sharma bagged the award for best actor in a supporting role among the other nominees including Rani Mukherjee, Shilpa Shukla, and Tisca Chopra. Konkona Sen Sharma also got nomination for the film 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag'. A.R. Rahman was awarded for the excellent music he has given to Guru. Among other nominees Pritam got nomination for two films namely 'Jab We Met' and also 'Life In a…Metro'. Prasoon Joshi got the award as best lyricist for the song 'Maa' from 'Taare Zameen Par' while among the other nominees there were prominent lyricist like Javed Akhtar and Gulzar. Shaan got the award in the category of best playback singer (Male) for 'Jab Se Tere Naina' from the film 'Saawariya'. The best playback singer (Female) went to Shreya Ghosal for 'Barso Re' from the film 'Guru' by Maniratnam. Among the technical awards best action award went to Rob Miller for the film 'Chak De! India'. The award for best art direction went to Samir Chanda for the film 'Guru'. A.R. Rahman got the best background music score for the film 'Guru' while Saroj Khan got the best choreography award for the song 'Barso re Megha' from the film 'Guru'. Sudeep Chatterjee got the award for best cinematography in the film 'Chak De! India' while best costume designer award went to Sujata Sharma Virk for the film 'Gandhi My Father.' Imtiaz Ali got the award for best dialogue in the film 'Jab we Met'. Best editing went to Amitabh Shukla for 'Chak de! India'. Anuraag Basu was awarded for best screenplay in the film 'Life In A Metro'. Best sound design award goes to Dwarak Warrior, Madhu Apsara, and Leslie Fernandes for the film 'Johnny Gaddar'. Red Chillies VFX got the award for best special effects in the film 'Om Shanti Om' while Amol Gupte got the award for best story of the film 'Taare Zameen Par'. Critics' award has always taken an important place in the filmfare award. This time also the critics' showed their excellence. They awarded 'Chak de! India' as best film while Darsheel Safary got the best actor award for the film 'Taare Zameen Par'. According to critics' choice Tabu is the best actress for the film 'Cheeni Kum'. Ranbir Kapoor was awarded as best male debutant while Deepika Padukone was the best female debutant. Lifetime achievement award went to the successor of Prithviraaj Kapoor, i.e. Rishi Kapoor while Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra got the power award of 2007. R D Burman award goes to Monty Sharma for the film 'Saawariya'. Sony Head and Shoulder Face of the year award went to Deepika Padukone, which is a prestigious award for the new comers. |
