The Government of India awarded the Padma Bhushan Award to 35 extremely talented and successful Indian people from different fields in 2006. The Padma Bhushan Award is counted among the most prestigious and honourable awards in India and is ranked third amongst all the civilian awards. Only the Bharat Ratna Award and Padma Vibhushan Award are ranked higher than the Padma Bhushan Award in India. The Government of India recognises and appreciates the achievements of the talented people from different fields through this award. The award is presented to both the Indian citizens and the foreigners.
