Theme of Jat- Jatin Dance The original theme of the Jat-Jatin dance of Bihar explains the story of the lovers Jat and Jatin, who were separated and living in difficult situations. But now through "Jat Jatin" many social situations are also discussed like natural calamities such as droughts and floods. Through this dance, various other socially concerned topics like poverty, sorrow, love, arguments between lovers or husband and wife are also enacted. In some versions, the performers wear masks to add a real picture. Performance of Jat- Jatin Dance Jat- Jatin dance is not complicated; it comprises of delicate bodily movements. The steps are lively and vigorous with four steps forward and an equal number back. The rhythm is kept to six, seven or eight beats that are Dadra, Teevta and Kerwa.
