This was a real break for Salman and Bhagyashree in the world of Hindi cinema. Though this was not the debut film of Salman Khan still it helped the Hero to establish his status in the industry.

Synopsis of the Indian movie `Maine Pyar Kiya`
The story of the famous Indian movie `Maine Pyar Kiya` is set at the backdrop of friendship and love. The story starts long back when Karan played by Alok Nath and Kishan played by Rajeev Verma were very good friends but eventually have grown apart. Now they have little in common. The widowed Karan is an engineer. He lives in a house in a small town. On the other hand, Kishan is a rich man with a big business empire. He has completely changed and now with little time for his old friends. He lives in a city. However, as they say `a friend in need is a friend indeed`; so when Karan decides to go abroad and work there, he comes to Kishan to help him. Karan wants to keep his only daughter Suman played by Bhagyashree at Kishan`s house.

Initially Suman faces some problem living in the huge mansion as she was coming from a small town. Soon she becomes friends with Kishan`s son Prem played by Salman Khan. He assures her that they can become good friends and as days passed by they become inseparable. Prem make her understand that friendship is divine and there should be no `sorry` and no `thank you` between friendships. Once they go to a party invited by Prem`s female friend Seema who was jealous to Suman tries to humiliate her. She becomes scared from all these. Prem saves her and get the unusual feel that he is in tremendous love with Suman. With the help of his mother who was already in love with Suman, Prem tries to win her love and finally succeeds.

But his father Kishen does not like this at all. He wants his son to marry someone very rich and a business tycoon. On Suman`s birthday Kishan tries to humiliate her. Just at that time Karan returns from abroad. On further discussion Kishan accuses him relating Suman with Prem. Karan and Kishan quarrel and finally with a broken heart Karan and Suman go back to their village. Prem denies accepting the parting. He is determined to get Suman back in life and marry her. He goes to Suman`s village and begs Karan to allow him to marry Suman. Karan says that he will allow their marriage on one condition. The condition is that Prem must prove that he can support Suman by his own efforts. Prem agrees and start working on a local transport there at Suman`s town. The work is very hard but due to his determination he does well and earns monthly salary. While going to Suman`s Father some persons attacked Prem and at the same time Prem`s father comes there. He understands that he was wrong, his friend Ranjit and his son Jeevan were after his money and they were trying to misguide him. Even the attack was from their side. Finally he recognises his real friend Karan and realises that money is not the last word in this world. Suman and Prem are together and all ends in a happy tone.

Cast and Crew:
The Indian movie `Maine Pyar Kiya` has a rocking star cast as Salman Khan, Bhagyashree, Lakmikant Berde, Alok Nath, Rajeev Verma, Reema Lagoo, Ajit Vachani, and as antagonist Mohnish Behl. The director of the film is Sooraj R. Barjatya while the producer is Tarachand Barjatya, story is written by SM Ahale. The music of the film is given by Ram Laxman. Some masterpiece songs have sung by Lata Mangeshkar and S.P.Balasubramaniam.

Awards:
The Indian movie `Maine Pyar Kiya` won four Filmfare Awards in 1990, including Best Film for producer, Tarachand Barjatya. Salman Khan was nominated for Best Actor, and won the Best Debut award for his performance. Earlier he did a small role in `Biwi Ho To Aisi` but that was not noticiable.
