It is entirely run by numerous volunteers, who work relentlessly for the well-being of mankind. The foundation was established by an enlightened scholar, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in 1992 and its main center located at Velliangiri Foothills of Semmedu in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. This centre reflects the beauty and serenity of the surroundings and the grace of the majestic mountains. It also houses the main office of Isha foundation that works for the physical, mental, spiritual health of the people through Yogic science. It has introduced a customised system of Yoga called Isha Yoga. Isha Yoga distills powerful, ancient yogic methods for a modern person and improves physical, mental, and emotional conditions of the person.

The founder of Isha Yoga Center Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, is a renowned Yoga master who helped to change the lives of thousands of people through his method of teaching Yoga. He started Yoga practises like Pranayamas and Asanas at the age of thirteen under the guidance of Shri Raghavendra Rao, who was popularly known as Malladihalli Swami. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is a visionary humanitarian and a prominent spiritual leader in India, who works relentlessly towards the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of all. Sadhguru`s scientific methods for self-transformation are both direct and powerful. He does not belong to any particular tradition and he incorporates and presents what is most valid for the contemporary life from the Yogic sciences. He has travelled throughout the world and addressed some of the most prominent international leadership forums. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev believes that his life is an endeavour "to help people experience and express their divinity".

The main objective of the foundation is to improve the quality of people`s lives in totality and its basic purpose is to inspire, to strengthen and to nurture every being and help them realise the ultimate potential within. The foundation organises various programmes for the well being of humanity and the basis of total wellbeing accelerates inner growth and allows each individual to tap the wealth of vibrant life within oneself.

Apart from its main centre located at Velliangiri Foothills of Semmedu in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, the Isha Yoga Center Foundation has many other centres spread all over India and in abroad. There are over 25 yoga centres run by the foundation and the centres are located in the cities like Coimbatore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Mysore, etc. Apart from these, the overseas centres of the foundation are located in the countries like USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, Singapore, etc.

The Isha Yoga Center Foundation organises many programmes including the Sahaj Sthithi Yoga. This is a form of yoga, which is easy to be incorporated into one`s daily life. It combines dynamic Raja yoga practices, breathing techniques or Pranayamas and Shoonya meditation or the effortless process of conscious non-doing. The Sahaj Sthithi Yoga also helps to remove physical and mental block and stimulates the vital process of life. The centre runs many workshops in over 50 centres in the towns of Tamil Nadu and Yoga programmes are also held in its other centres, under the guidance of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Sadhguru`s introductory programme, Inner Engineering introduces a simple but powerful Kriya (inner energy process), named Shambhavi Maha Mudra. The Isha Yoga Center Foundation is unique in its offering of all the four major paths of Yoga - Gnana (knowledge), Karma (action), Kriya (energy), and Bhakti (devotion).

Apart from the yoga centre, the Isha Yoga Center Foundation also houses the Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple. The Dhyanalinga was consecrated by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in the temple and it is actually the distilled essence of yogic science. Dhyanalinga does not ascribe to any particular belief or faith and does not require any worship. The people of the Ashram sit silently for few minutes within the sphere of Dhyanalinga and it helps them to feel the divine energy that overflows from this glorious form. Apart from the Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple, the Isha Yoga Center Foundation houses the Spanda Hall and garden and a 64,000 sq. ft. meditation hall. The Isha Rejuvenation Center, the Isha Home School and a large residential facility is also situated within the centre. The residential facility houses an active international community of Brahmacharies, full-time volunteers, guests, and visitors.

The Isha Yoga Center Foundation has earned significant recognition all over the world for its various activities. In fact, together with its active and dedicated volunteer base, the centre is serving as a booming model for human empowerment and community revitalisation throughout the world.
