Katariya is the name of a census town, lying in the district of Ambedaker Nagar of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Identification of salient characteristics of any place or town is not complete without developing acquaintance about the demographical scenario of that particular town. Thus in order to keep track with the demography of Katariya have carried on surveys and research works which help them to deduce certain facts that are related to Katariya town's demography. In this matter, one emphasizes the significance of the Census report that has been brought out in the year 2001. As per the report, the total population of Katariya showed a population counting of 3888. If one analyzes this report one can decipher the condition of males, female as well as children who are residing in Katariya. According to this report , male populace comprises of 54 percent . Female populace constitutes 46 percent. Thus it led one to infer that number of males is more than that of females. In Katariya, 13 percent of the total population is below six years of age.

Just like the status of female population, in Katariya female literacy rate too is less than rate of male literacy. Thus 76 percent and 60 percent are the rates of male and female literacy respectively.
Being a part of the district of Ambedaker Nagar it becomes natural that people of Katariya too follows the same trend and tradition. There has been industrial growth in the district. Product, namely, Tanda Terikat has become the trademark of the district. Thermal power station and cement manufacturing plants that have flourished in the district are responsible for the commercial propensity of the region.
