Jiribam is a small city in the Imphal East district of the northeastern state
of India, Manipur
. It is located on the Manipur Assam border. It is spread over an area of 387 sq. km. Imphal
, the state capital is located in the west of Imphal at a distance of 200 km. The nearest railway station is the Jiribam Railway Station.
As per the Indian census report of 2001, Jiribam had a population of 6426. Males constitute 49% of the population and females account for 51% of the population. In Jiribam, 13% of the population is less than six years of age. The average literacy rate of Jiribam is 73%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate, which is 59.5%. Out of it, the male literacy rate is 80% and the female literacy rate is 66%.
