Ichhawar is a small town and a nagar panchayat situated in Sehore District of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The town of Sehore is situated 25 km south of Ichhawar. Bhopal, the state capital is located in the southwest at a distance of 45 km. The town is well connected with other important places within the state. The nearest access points are the airport at Bhopal and the Sehore Railway Station. Geographically, the town is located between 23.02° North latitude and 77.02° East longitude at an average elevation of 492 metres (1614 feet) above mean sea level.
The 2001 India census report states Ichhawar had a population of 12,688. Males constitute 52% of the population and females constitute 48% of the population. In Ichhawar, 16% of the population is less than six years of age. The average literacy rate of Ichhawar as published in the census report is 58% which is slightly lower than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 68% and the female literacy rate is 48%.
