Goundampalayam is a municipality town in Coimbatore district in the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu. According to the census report of India published in 2001, Goundampalayam had a population of 46,984 inhabitants. Males and females account for 51% and 49% of the population respectively. In Goundampalayam, 11% of the population is less than six years of age. Statistics revealed the town has an average literacy rate of 76%. This is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 81% and the female literacy rate is 72%.
