Sholaga tribal community of Karnataka is basically settled in several parts of this state and has enriched the culture and heritage of this state with their own distinctness. After conducting survey in numerous places of the state of Karnataka, these Sholaga tribes are found in various places of the state like Mysore District, Biligiri Rangana Hills etc. Apart from the state, these Sholaga tribes are also found in other states of Indian subcontinent also.
The conversational language of this Sholaga tribal community is the beautiful language of the same name. There are some people who also have given alternative names to this language viz. Solanayakkans, Sholiga, Solaga, Kadu Sholigar, Sholigar, Soligar, Sholanayika. As per the provision of the Indian Constitution, Sholaga tribal community is one of the Scheduled tribes. This Sholaga tribal community has a belonging to the Kannada group.
Agriculture and farming are considered as the major occupation of the Sholaga tribal community. Quite a number of this Sholaga tribal community collects various products from the forest areas. That this Sholaga tribal community is very much pious and the people of this group are religious minded. Hinduism is the main religion. However, many of the members of this Sholaga tribal community have still retained the local practices and customs of this community.
