Gausganj is a town in Kanpur Dehat district in the northern state of India, Uttar Pradesh. It is located on the State Highway linking Bhognipur and Ghatampur. It is situated in the extreme southeast part of the district. Malasa Railway Station and C A Kanpur Airport are the nearest railway station and the nearest airport respectively. It is located in the south of Mati; and is about 18 km from Bhognipur, 15 km from Gajner and 18 km from Ghatampur.
According to the 2001 India census report, Gausganj had a small population of 7708 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population. In Gausganj 16% of the population is less than six years of age. Gausganj has an average literacy rate of 62%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 70% and the female literacy rate is 54%.
