Gauribidanur is a town in district of the southern state of India, Karnataka. Bangalore, the state capital is situated at a distance of 76 km. from Gauribidanur. Gauribidanur railway station is the nearest railway station on the Bangalore- Hyderabad railway line.It is located between 13.61° North latitude and 77.52° East longitude at an average elevation of 694 metres (2276 feet) above mean sea level.
According to the 2001 India census report, Gauribidanur had a population of 30,530 inhabitants. Males constitute 51% of the population and females constitute 49% of the population. In Gauribidanur, 11% of the population is less than six years of age. The town has an average literacy rate of 72% which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 77% and the female literacy rate is 67%.
Vidurashwatha, an important pilgrim center is located at a distance of 6 km. from Gauribidanur.
