Raveena Tandon was born on October 26, 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is a National Film Award winning Bollywood actress, producer, and also a former model who did few Tamil, Telugu and also Kannada.
Raveena Tandon was born to filmmaker Ravi Tandon and his wife Veena. Her father was a producer and director of several films in the 1970s and 1980s. She has a brother called Rajiv Tandon, who married the actress Rakhee Tandon. She did her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu and studied at Mithibai College. She could complete her first and second years at the college, when she got her first film offer from Shantanu Sheorey, which she accepted. Finally, she left college and decided to pursue her film career.
Raveena Tandon made her acting debut with the film Patthar Ke Phool, released in1991 and won a Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her performance in the film. During the 90s, she was a popular star and her most of the films released during that time. She was frequently seen in several commercially successful films such as Mohra (1994), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996) and Ziddi (1997). Followed by many more films Raveena Tandon surprised her critics and audiences with her variety of styles and strong acting capability. During the early 2000s, she ventured into more serious roles and started to work in offbeat and parallel cinema. Raveena Tandon was much admired for her performances in films like Aks (2001) and Satta (2003). She reached the peak of her career in 2002 and won the coveted National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Kalpana Lazmi`s film Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001).
Mohra was one of the biggest successes of Raveena Tandon in her initial years. In the year 1994, her other releases included the thriller Imtihaan and the comedy Andaz apna apna. In 1995, she was casted along with Shahrukh Khan for the first time in Zamana Deewana, unfortunately the film failed to do well. After a loop in her career, Raveena Tandon was back on track with hit films like Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996) and Ziddi (1997). Since then Raveena started to give big hits each of its respective year.
In the year 1998, Raveena Tandon had eight releases. Her last release of that year was Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda that proved to be the second biggest hit of the year. Her other releases of that year were films like Gharwali Baharwali, Vinashak, Pardesi Babu and Aunty No. 1. All of the films gained average status in the box office.
In the 2000s, Raveena Tandon came back in Bollywood with professional armor to her career. She decided to take up offbeat films since then and proved her skills perfectly. Raveena started to work more with art film directors and realistic cinema. She did great films like Shool (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Aks (2001) that won her huge acclaim. Raveena Tandon won many awards including the Filmfare Special Performance Award for her performance in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra`s Aks.
Raveena Tandon won the popular National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Kalpana Lazmi`s Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001). In this film, she played the role of a battered wife to an abusive husband. The critics and audiences were surprised with her brilliant performance in the film and received much admiration for her work. She has starred in several critically acclaimed films, such as Satta (2003) and Dobara (2004). The last release of this glamorous actress was Sandwich, released in 2006, however the film did not receive much positive reception.
Raveena Tandon produced two films, namely Stumped (2003) and Pehchaan.. Raveena Tandon gave birth to a baby girl - Rasha on March 16, 2005 and a baby boy on July 12, 2007.

Raveena signed on to sustain the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in November 2002. She worked in many ad campaigns alike the actors Shilpa Shetty, Amisha Patel and John Abraham. She also stood up against the issue of cows being slaughtered for their skin. Raveena Tandon donated to the Lotus Eye Hospital in Mumbai for underprivileged children in June 2006.
