Mahat, The Intelligence
Mahat means intellect, the first product of Pradhana.

Mahat means intellect, the first product of Pradhana. Mahat is explained as sensible to divine. In the Sankhya and Purana doctrines, the principle of Mahat is great and is explained as `the production of the manifestation of the qualities.` Mahat, the Great principle, is termed from being the first of the created principles, and from its extension being greater than that of the rest.

Mahat is also named Iswara, from its exercising supremacy over all things. In the Puranas Mahat or intelligence is featured as the act of creating. Mahat is thus the divine mind in creative operation.
