Wedding in Mughal period were a matter of pomp, show and extravagance of the interesting period of Indian History.

Mughal Empire is an interesting period of Indian History. This is because; the Mughal history is so recent so as to blend with the issues of the current times. Wedding in Mughal period were a matter of pomp, show and extravagance. The Mughal Empire from the historical and trade perspective was not only a flourishing phase but the weddings in this era were significant and memorable creating another phase of history.

After any conquest usually all religious lands were confiscated and the King approved marriages between noble families. The Emperor also introduced market and price control for food grains, cloth and other basics. The land revenue was increased and made more efficient. Thus the Emperor imposed a highly centralized system of government. Although the Mughals had come to India as invaders, they took to this country as their own and settled down here.

The liberal religious policy and marriages between the Mughals and Hindu princesses brought a period of understanding between the people professing the two faiths of Mughal weddings. It also led to tempering of aggression that generally characterizes the Hindu-Muslim relations during the medieval period. The marriages in Mughal India also led to cooperation between the Mughals, the Rajputs, and various other local zamindars and this gave a period of political stability in the country.
