Rani Birla Girls` College is one among Kolkata`s most prestigious women`s educational institutes. It is an undergraduate college for women. The College is affiliated under University of Calcutta. The college aims to promote academic excellence through regular courses as well as tutorial classes. Its objective is to produce high morals and values in its students. Rani Birla Girls` College is very conveniently located on the Shakespeare Sarani, which is easily accessible from both Jawaharlal Nehru Road and A.J.C Bose Road. The address of the College is 38, Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata-700017.

The college offers only B.A. course, in Bengali, English, Hindi, Economics, Political Science, History, Sanskrit, Education, Philosophy, Geography and Sociology. The honours courses are offered in English, political Science, History, Education, Geography and Sociology. The other major subject is Communicative English.

The academic environment of the college is highly disciplined. Students are advised to be regular in their classes as well as their tutorials. The college takes regular tests that are compulsory for all students. Students should keep minimum of 75% attendance in each subject as required by the University of Calcutta.

There is an Annual Prize Distribution that occurs every year in the College premises. The students are given prizes for their academic achievements in the College and Calcutta University examinations. There are also prizes for the sports activities during that year. Not only the students get award, but the teachings and non-teachings staffs are also awarded for their sports achievements. The prizes are distributed in the form of certificates, medals and other forms. The President or distinguished member of the Governing Body distributes the prizes.

Students are also encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities like seminars, debates, quiz programs, mock-parliament, play-readings and cultural programs. The college Annual Fest is called Amitie, which is organized by the students. They also enthusiastically take part in the inter-college competitions held during the fests organized by other colleges. The students also organize Charity Sales with the help of the teachers for social service activities.

The College annual sports is another program, which is celebrated with immense enthusiasm. There is a College Magazine published every year named "Ourselves". In this magazine both teachers and students show their literary proficiency in English, Hindi and Bengali. Annual Excursions organized by the College and one-day picnics are arranged by different departments. Both the events bring great happiness and joy in both teachers` and students` life.

There is a Psychological Counseling Cell in the College to meet the student`s emotional and psychosocial needs. The Cell deals with the interactive workshops on different aspects like personality development, stress management, confidence building and many more. The workshops are arranged at frequent intervals under the expert guidance of the teacher of the College and also professionally qualified Counselors. It also provides personal counseling when required.

There is also an Academic counseling cell in the college that advice the students about their career goal after leaving the college. Different companies also come to interact with the students making them aware of the prospects in different fields.

All the students of the College are enrolled as a member of the Student`s Health Home at the time of their admission in the college. In case of minor physical injury the college gives First Aid arrangements to give the student immediate relief. In more severe cases the College administration calls a qualified Doctor so that the students receive proper medical attention.

The Alumni Association of Rani Birla Girl`s college has been established in April 2003. The Association organizes Reunion and other Programs every year, which helps to bring the members of the RBGC family nearer and closer to each other.
