Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-break bowler hails from thestate of Haryana and has represented the state team in domestic cricket. He is a professional cricket player and is also a former chess player, who has represented India internationally in chess at youth levels. Yuzvendra Chahal plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Early Life of Yuzvendra Chahal
Born on 23rd July, 1990, Yuzvendra Chahal is from the district of Jind, which is one of the oldest districts of Haryana. He is a fine right-arm leg-spinner, who made his first-class debut at the age of 19 years in an away game against Madhya Pradesh at Indore.
Domestic Career of Yuzvendra Chahal
Initially in 2011, Yuzvendra Chahal was the first one signed up by the Mumbai Indians and he appeared in only 1 IPL game for the team across 3 seasons but played in all matches in the 2011 Champions League Twenty20. He took 2 for 9 in 3 overs in the Final against Royal Challengers Bangalore, helping Mumbai defend the total of 139 and lift the title. Yuzvendra Chahal was a part of the Mumbai Indians from 2011 to 2013. In the 2014 IPL players" auction, Yuzvendra Chahal was brought by the Royal Challengers and in the same year he won the Man of the Match award against Delhi Daredevils. Yuzvendra Chahal was again brought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in January, 2018.
International Career of Yuzvendra Chahal
In 2016, Yuzvendra Chahal was named in the 14 man squad to tour Zimbabwe, where he made his One Day International (ODI) as well as his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Zimbabwe. His bowling performance earned him first international man of the match award as well. On February 1st, 2017 he was playing against England and became the first Indian bowler to take a 5 wicket haul in a T20 match.
Yuzvendra Chahal is also the first leg spinner to pick up a fifer as well as 6 wicket haul in a T20I and has the record for the best bowling as a leg spinner in T20I history. He along with Sri Lankan cricketer Ajantha Mendis, is one of only two players in T20I history to have taken a 6 wicket haul.
Yuzvendra Chahal also played chess at the National Level and represented India at the World Youth Chess Championship. He was made to give up chess at a later stage when he struggled to find sponsors.
