Vinod Ganpat Kambli is a former India batsman who played his last Test match when he was just 23 years. He played for India as a middle order batsman and for Mumbai as well. On 15th August 2009, Kambli launched his "Khel Bharti Sports Academy" in Mumbai and announced his retirement from cricket as he wanted to coach at "Khel Bharti Academy".
Early Life of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli was born in Indira Nagar, Kanjurmarg of Mumbai. He is a childhood friend of the Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He started his Ranji Trophy career with a six off the first ball. He shared a steady partnership of 664 runs with Sachin Tendulkar in a school cricket match against St. Xavier`s School.
Career of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli made his One Day International and Test debuts in 1991 and 1992, respectively. He made four centuries including two double-centuries in Tests. He holds the record for the fastest Indian player (14 innings) to achieve 1000 runs in Tests. In 1993, he scored 224 against England at Wankhede Stadium as his maiden test century in his third test. In his next test series he scored 125 and 120 against Sri Lanka. He is also the single cricketer to hit three following test centuries in three innings, all centuries against different countries.
He made his One Day International debut in 1991 against Pakistan in the Wills Sharjah Trophy. He played world cup tournaments in 1992 and 1996. He played his last Test match at the age of 24 only, at the same time as he played his last One Day International in the year 2000. He formally announced his retirement from first class cricket on 22nd September 2011. He played for Boland province in the South African domestic circuit.
Political Career of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli joined the "Lok Bharati Party" and was appointed as a vice-president of the party. He contested the 2009 Assembly election from Vikhroli, Mumbai as a Lok Bharati Party candidate and lost the election. Though, he continues to do societal work, he also supported Anna Hazare`s campaign of India against bribery in 2011.
Movie career of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli has also appeared as an actor in few films namely "Annarth", "Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaat" and "Bettanagere". He made his debut on the small screen on Doordarshan in a serial called "Miss India" in 2002.

Personal Life of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli first married Noella Lewis in the year 1998. After separating from her, he married model Andrea Hewitt, the couple has a child born in June 2010. After his marriage to his second wife Andrea, he converted to
Christianity, naming his son Jesus Christiano Kambli. Journalist Kunal Purandare has penned his biography called "Vinod Kambli: The Lost Hero".
