Eligibility Criteria for the State Engineering Entrance Exams
Students with a pass in the final 12 standard examinations or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the three core subjects are eligible to apply for the various state engineering entrance exams. Students, who are appearing for the qualifying exam, can also appear for the tests. Moreover, apart from this basic minimum eligibility criterion, aspirants need to refer to the announcements of the particular institution or testing authority, as the eligibility criteria such as marks, age, domicile, etc., vary from one state to another.

Pattern of Examination
The pattern of state wise engineering entrance exams differs from one state to another. In some states the test is usually of 2 hours duration whereas in other states 3 hours duration. They might carry sets and can be of multiple choice options. The pattern of examination varies from one state to another. Mode of giving the examination is usually either English language or the state official language.
Syllabus
Syllabus of the three core subjects, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics for all the state engineering entrance tests is more or less same. Except in some cases there might be certain additional topics that depend on the pattern of examination.
Selection Process
Candidates are ranked on the basis of the scores obtained in the written examination and the overall aggregate of marks obtained in all the sections or subjects. Selection criteria of one state might differ from the other state.
