Sridharan Sriram, Former Indian Cricket PlayerSridharan Sriram, is an Indian domestic level cricketer was born on 21st February 1976, in Madras (Chennai), Tamil Nadu He is a prolific Indian with the specialisation in left-handed batsmanship. Sridharan Sriram also played as a left-arm orthodox spin bowler. Currently, Sridharan Sriram plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Early Life of Sridharan Sriram
Sridharan Sriram was born in Chennai to an Iyengar family. His father is Dr. S.D. Sridharan, a noted Carnatic Violinist and his mother is Ramapriya Sridharan.

Early Career of Sridharan Sriram
Sridharan Sriram is a doughty left-handed all-rounder. Sridharan Sriram emerged from the junior ranks to set domestic cricket ablaze with some prolific run-making. Starting off as a left-arm spinner, Sridharan Sriram took 29 wickets on India`s Under-19 tour of South Africa in 1992-93. But it was as a batsman that Sridharan Sriram came to national notice, becoming only the third batsman to score 1000 runs in a domestic season, which - with the aid of five centuries - he did in 1999-2000.

Sridharan Sriram was given a few one-day international cricket teams and failed to impress, but he was the most consistent opener in domestic cricket for a while.

Later Career of Sridharan Sriram
Sridharan Sriram transferred from Tamil Nadu to Maharashtra in 2006-2007 but the following season, joined the rebel Indian Cricket League. Initially with the Chennai Superstars, he moved to the Ahmedabad Rockets. Later, Sridharan Sriram accepted the BCCI`s amnesty offer and quit the league in 2009, along with a host of other Indian players. He was signed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL the following year.

Sridharan Sriram started his cricketing career as a left-arm spinner and took 29 wickets on India`s Under-19 tour of South Africa in the 1992-93 seasons. However, playing for Tamil Nadu, it was his batting which brought him wider recognition. His most prolific season was in 1999-2000 when he scored 1075 runs in the Ranji Trophy including 5 centuries, and was named as an Indian Cricketer of the Year. Sridharan Sriram was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Sridharan Sriram made a steady domestic form that resulted in a call-up to the India national cricket team, and he made his One Day International debut against South Africa at Nagpur on 19 March 2000. However, a string of low scores meant that he lost his place in the squad after 6 matches.

Sridharan Sriram continued to score heavily in domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu, and he earned a second chance with the national team for the tour of Bangladesh in 2004-05. He played in the first 2 One Day International, taking 3 wickets in the first, and scoring 57 in a losing cause in the second. However, this was to be his last match for India.

International Cricket Career of Sridharan Sriram
Sridharan Sriram has also played as an overseas player for the Scottish Saltires in English domestic cricket in 2004, and has been regularly selected for the South Zone cricket team in the Duleep Trophy. He currently plays for Goa.
