Sri Devaraj URS Medical College, Kolar, KarnatakaSituated in the district of Kolar, Karnataka, Sri Devaraj URS Medical College (SDUMC), is a well known medical institution, providing medical education to the students of the state. The college was established in 1991 by the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust. It is also being run and managed by the trust. The college offers unique professional, cultural and recreational opportunities in friendly environment and it is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). The college is approved by the Government of Karnataka, as well.

Sri Devaraj URS Medical College (SDUMC), Kolar has the distinction of getting recognition, during the first inspection in the year 1991, from the Medical Council of India (MCI). The students of the college are governed by the rules and regulations of the RGUHS and MCI and it has also got the ISO - 9001: 2000 certification. The college is accredited by the National assessment and accreditation council (NAAC), India and within a short time, it has made rapid progress academically. The college has also achieved a proud place among the Medical Colleges in the Country. It started offering postgraduate courses in clinical subjects from 1997 and the performance of its students in the University examinations is creditable with high rate of success.

Sri Devaraj URS Medical College (SDUMC), Kolar gives top priority in maintaining discipline in the campus that is meticulously being monitored by the management. The college has designed the teaching program according to the guidelines of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Medical Council of India (MCI). The college offers many courses in several fields of medical science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses include MBBS, post graduate diploma courses, and post graduate degree (MD/MS) courses. The courses are offered mainly in the branches like General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology Venereology and Leprosy, and in Anesthesia and Radio Diagnosis.

There is a high quality hospital located within the premises of Sri Devaraj URS Medical College (SDUMC), Kolar and the hospital is named as R L Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre. The hospital has an out patient department (OPD) complex, Operation Theatre complex and Ward Complex. Apart from that, it also runs Emergency Casualty Services, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). The patients can get some other facilities like endoscopic, ECHO cardiography tread mill test, ultrasound colour doppler studies, IITV X-Ray, C T scanning and cobalt therapy, as well. The college provides separate hostel facilities for its male and female students.
