Sardar Patel University founded the University in 1955. The University has several post-graduate departments and a number of affiliated colleges under its wing. The University offers education, training and research programmes to its students. It also organizes seminars, training programs, refresher courses, workshops, and conferences. The University Museum located in the campus has a collection of rich artefacts relating to the culture and heritage of the region. The university has been given a four star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
