Peesapati Narasimha Murty was a well known actor of Telugu theatre. He was born on 10th of July 1920, in Vantaram village in Vizianagaram district. He received professional training under Kilambi Krishnamacharyulu and embarked on an acting career in 1949. Peesapati Narasimha Murty specialized in historical and mythological roles, while his productions of Kurukshetram and Gayopakhyanamu i.e. "The Gaya Episode" enjoyed phenomenally successful runs across the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

His portrayal of Lord Krishna in these plays won wide acclaim. All of these were self-directed. His role as Nakshatraka in Harishchandra and Bilwamangala in Chintamani were also famous. He has 6000 stage appearances to his name. He was a scholar during the Vedic civilization in India. He is considered as the best recitalist of poems as he brought out their subtext through meaningful pauses instead of rendering them in elaborate ragas. Even though he made only short raga, he earned the accolades of the illiterate audience.

He acted throughout the Indian states and all major India cities. He received many awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986. Andhra University honoured him with Kala Prapoorna in 1993.
