Paratitacan
Paratitacan is a well known Tamil poet, who was also popularly known as Puratcik Kavinar, meaning revolutionary poet. He was born as Kanaka Cuppurattinam.

Paratitacan is a famous Tamil poet who is an important as the poet Paratiyar. Paratitacan was born in the year 1891 and died in 1964. The poet was born as Kanaka Cuppurattinam and later took the pseudonym Paratitacan. He was also popularly known as Puratcik Kavinar, meaning revolutionary poet. Paratitacan appreciated and revered Paratiyar and moved with Paratiyar to Pondicherry. He was one the most popular poets in Tamil Nadu, next to Paratiyar, who aided in the progression of the modern era in Tamil literature. Kanaka Cuppurattinam or Paratitacan initially worked as a teacher in Tamil language and later edited several magazines as well. He was also associated with some political parties and was actively involved in Tamil cinema as well.

Literary Works of Paratitacan
Paratitacan depicts his ideas compellingly through enchanting and appealing rhythms. Although the words are basic and lucid, they acquire tremendous power and emphasis when the poet utilizes them in verses. He adopts the traditional prosody in composing several of his poems. Paratitacan also utilises cintu and other types of versifications that are very common in folk songs. The well known Tamil poet has also used tunes of film music in his verses and has written various modern poems as well. Paratitacan has composed a remarkable poem in a tune that is usually sung during the time when the rope dancer walks on a tight rope. This poem is published in Kuyil, which is a mere rhythm that is reminiscent of the rhythm of the rope dancer.

Through most of his works, the eagerness and enthusiasm of Paratitacan to give a new life to the Tamil society is evident. According to the poet, the society is nothing but a skeleton without flesh or life. He desires and tries to provide new life to the skeleton by developing it with medicine. The zeal of Paratitacan to welcome new ideologies is also visible in many poems. The Tamil scholar and poet has also composed hymns on the significance and role of workers. Through his compositions, Paratitacan especially writes about highways and factories and requests them to reveal the real tale of their emergence into the world. In the poem Caynta Taracu, Paratitacan emphasizes on the theme of capital and labour, rich and poor. The poet believes that there is disparity between the poor and the rich. According to him many in this world are poor, having a begging bowl in their hands. Only a few are rich. If the poor become forceful and aggressive, the inequity between the rich and the poor will be fixed and corrected. The Tamil poem is notable for its composition and inspiring words and rhythm.

The imaginative poem of Talai Aru, by Paratitacan narrates about workers who are compared to an ocean and those who enjoy the fruits of their labour are compared to ship. The poet warns the rich that if the sea of workers forms up a hurricane then the ship of rich will be in immense danger. Therefore they should realise their true position and act accordingly. Paratitacan aggressively criticised all superstitious ideas, customs and manners and attacked the problems of caste system. His reformist zeal is revealed in his poetic compositions.

Paratitacan Kavitaikal is his first collection of poems which portray brilliant emotions and high ideals. The anthology series also includes a short epic entitled Cancivi Parvatattin Caral. He composed many other epics in Tamil language such as Katala Katamaiya, Etirparata Muttam, Virattay, Tamilacciyin Katti, Pantiyan Parisu. These works depict the passion and interest of the author in Tamil. Other minor epics like, and illustrate his passionate interest in Tamil. Both works of Irunta Vitu and Kutumpa Vilakku are excellent literary compositions of high quality. Another anthology titled Alakin Cirippu, comprises of poems that provide exquisiteness to Tamil literature. These poems primarily elaborate the beauty of nature.

Even though the verses of Paratitacan are influential, merciless and skilful, they are composed in traditional form of verses or the two line kanni verses or the simple cintu. Paratitacan has composed a number of captivating and enthralling hymns mainly on the theme of human emotions and feelings of love. These verses of Paratitacan contain an outstanding form.
