The Milind Institute of Pharmacy (MIP) is a reputed medical institute in the state of Karnataka and it is situated in the city of Bangaluru. The institute was established in the year 1983 by the Karnataka Peoples Education society and it has been working on achieving some certain aims and objectives, since then. The institute is being run and managed by the same society till today. The main objective behind founding the institute was to produce quality pharmacists with a diploma in pharmacy, who could serve in community and hospital pharmacy.
The Milind Institute of Pharmacy (MIP), Bangaluru initially offered only the diploma course in pharmacy (D.Pharm) for more than 8 years. As the students of the institute had been yielding good results every year, the management of the institute got encouraged and decided to upgrade the institute to degree level. The State Government of Karnataka was also quite pleased to sanction the B. Pharma degree course to Milind Institute of Pharmacy in 1991. Till then, the institute has been offering both the D.Pharm and B.Pharm courses to the students. The institute admits a large number of students from all over India in these two courses, every year.
Like all the other medical institutes, the Milind Institute of Pharmacy (MIP), Bangaluru also follows some strict criterion, while admitting the students. The students desirous to get admitted in D.Pharm are required to have passed in the Pre-University Course (PUC), in Science, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics. The students are required to pass the first year examination of the three year degree course in Science, or the Intermediate / 10 +2 with Science, the Pre-Degree Examination, or any other qualified examination accepted by the Pharmacy Council of India.
In order to get admitted in the B.Pharm course in Milind Institute of Pharmacy (MIP), Bangaluru, the students are required to have passed two year P.U.C. examination of Karnataka P.U.C Board or an equivalent examination of any other approved Board or university. The students must pass the examination with not less than 50% marks in any combination comprising P.C.M or P.C.B (minimum eligibility should be based on the aggregate of P.C.M or P.C.B.) or (P.C.M.B, P.C. and Computer Sciences, P.C and Electronics. In case of the students who have taken P.C.M.B Combination, the institute considers the aggregate of P.C.M or P.C.B whichever is higher, for the purpose of admission. The students, who belong to the SC/ ST or Category- I, are required to have a minimum percentage marks of 40% in P.U.C or its equivalent examination (P.C.B, or P.C.M. or P.C.M.B.) , P.C an Computer Science P.C and Electronics.
There are also some other criterions for getting admitted in the B.Pharm course of the Milind Institute of Pharmacy (MIP), Bangaluru. The candidates having scored less than 50 % marks in (10 +2) but who have completed B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry as one of the compulsory subjects in combination with any tow of the following subjects, namely, Physics, or Mathematics, or Microbiology or Botany, or Zoology, or Bio- technology, or Computer Sciences or electronic and secured not less than 50 % marks in aggregate, are also considered eligible for admission to first year B.Pharm course. Apart from them, the candidates, who have scored less than 50% marks in 10+2 but have completed D.Pharm Course securing more than 50% marks in aggregate in D.Pharm, are considered as eligible for B.Pharm course. The candidates having passed D.Pharm course approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), with not less than 50 % aggregate, are considered eligible for this course, as well. The get admitted directly to II B.Pharm course 10% over and above the sanctioned intake and they are bound to study Mathematics, Computer Science & Statistics of I B.Pharm in addition to the II B.Pharm.
