Margasahayam Venkataramana was the former Indian Cricket player, hailing from Tamil Nadu in first class cricket.

Margasahayam Venkataramana, Former Indian Cricket PlayerMargasahayam Venkataramana was born 24 April 1966, Secunderabad in Telangana. This former Indian cricketer is a right arm off-spinner, who played for Tamil Nadu.

Early Career of Margasahayam Venkataramana
Margasahayam Venkataramana made his debut in the 1987-88 season when Tamil Nadu won the Ranji Trophy. Margasahayam Venkataramana took 35 wickets; including a career best 7 for 94 in the final against Indian Railways Cricket team.

Another 30 wickets he earned in1988-89. This made him a place in the one-day squad against the touring New Zealand cricket team to play in the last two One day matches. He made his Debut in the Baroda (Vadodara) one dyer and picked up 2 wickets bowling a tight spell in the high scoring match. For his excellent form during this period, Margasahayam Venkataramana earned a place to tour West Indies and New Zealand under the captaincy of Dilip Vengsarkar and Mohammad Azharuddin.

Later Career of Margasahayam Venkataramana
Margasahayam Venkataramana played only Test match, which was against West Indies at Jamaica in 1988-89. He went wicket-less in the first innings and was put on to bowl in the second when West Indies needed eight runs to win. Desmond Haynes hit the first ball for four and was stumped off the second to become Venkataramana`s only Test wicket. Gus Logie hit the fourth ball for six to end the Test series. He also played in the English league from 1995-2000 in the Minor county league. There in England he picked up his flair for coaching the member`s young kids in the clubs and got qualified to coach in England finishing his basic coaching award course.

Margasahayam Venkataramana took 247 wickets in his first-class career. Then Margasahayam Venkataramana scored 212 for Tamil Nadu. After he announced his retirement in 2000 from First domestic class cricket, he took up coaching and he qualified himself as Level-3 Coach from BCCI-NCA Bengaluru.

Coaching Career of Margasahayam Venkataramana
Venkataramana served as the Head Coach in Singapore Cricket Association till 2011. Under his able guidance, the Singapore National Team gone higher up in the World Ranking and got qualified to play in the World Cricket League in Jersey.

Consistently Singapore National team performance came to lime light when he was looking after the cricket development in Singapore. On few occasions Singapore National team beat Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Malaysia in various Asian Cricket Conference (ACC) and Washington Cricket League (WCL) tournaments.

Presently, he is working for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Specialist Academy in Chennai as a coach and developing all age group players from various states in India.
